MD Lecture Series – Changes for 2017

I am making some very important changes to the MD Lecture Series which has been proven successful across the country in educating MDs on spinal biomechanical problems and has driven thousands of patients into chiropractic practices.  This is where you can take a leadership role in the education of primary care and specialty physicians in your area, no one else is going to be able to provide CME [Continuing Medical Education].  You get to leverage my medical faculty position to either present or co-present these classes, here is the break down of what is available to you in 2017.  I am making this easier on you in many ways AND, AND have revamped the program to allow YOU to teach.  It is important that YOU are the expert in your area with me being the “Interprofessional” facilitator.  This is really a WIN, WIN.

What you have available to you:

1 hour CME “In-services”

These are designed to be done inside the MD office or in small groups over lunch breaks.  You should be focusing on primary care physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.  These are a good start and great practice to be a better lecture, most importantly however they are designed to start a dialog on spine care. Many of you have done these and the results are fantastic.

MD Lecture – 3 hours – Dinner with ME on location – I come to you

This is the standard MD Lecture that has been done across the country.  I do all the lecturing; you fill the room.  You can sit back and relax and follow up with the MDs after the seminar and into the next week.  The cost for this programing in 2017 is $3500 plus travel expenses.

MD Lecture – 3 hours – Dinner with YOU speaking and me facilitating via video conference

This is the standard MD Lecture BUT we present together with me facilitating via video conference.  This is an interesting format and will help to position you as the expert in the area since when we are done lecturing, the video conference ends and YOU are the only one in the room.  This is powerful.  The cost for these lectures is as follows, you savings is based on the number of them that you want to do per year [you must commit in advance to save] as well as the fact I don’t have travel expenses.  That alone will save you between $1000-$4500 per year.  I have changed this for ONE main reason and that is the frequency of lecturing increases the number of referrals to your clinic.  I now do these for individual medical clinics with ALL their MDs, NP, PA and nurses.  This provides a platform to discuss internal issues with the practice as many MDs are more comfortable in this environment talking about problems with patient flow than they are in a larger group with other colleagues.  I recommend 1 per year per MD clinic and over time you should be focusing on 6-8 per year.

1 Lecture -           $3000.00

2 Lectures -         $5000.00

3 Lectures -         $7000.00

4 Lectures -         $8000.00

5 Lectures -         $9,000.00

*each additional lecture after 5 is $1000.00

You can pay for these up front or you can pay per month on an auto-debit program which can be part of your monthly outreach and marketing budget.   There will be a 2.5% fee on top of any monthly plans.  Here is the breakdown of what the monthly cost looks like, the auto-debit is not available for a single lecture.

1 Lecture -           $3000.00 – Not available

2 Lectures -         $5000.00 - $427.08

3 Lectures -         $7000.00 - $597.92

4 Lectures -         $8000.00 - $683.33

5 Lectures -         $9,000.00 - $768.75

For each additional lecture over 5, please add and additional $85.41 per month to $768.75.

THINK ABOUT YOUR CASE AVERAGE AND WHAT HAVING THE ABILITY TO CORNER THE BIOMECHANICAL SPINE MARKET IN YOUR AREA WOULD DO TO YOUR PRACTICE. IN MOST STATES ONE PATIENT PER MONTH WOULD EASILY COVER 10 LECTURES PER YEAR.  That is without mentioning Sponsorship opportunities which should cover ALL your expenses including food, lecture and materials.

Sources of Sponsorship

Potential sponsors need to be PRE-APPROVED by Dr. Owens prior to any agreements or arrangements, there are STRICT rules to who can sponsor a Continuing Medical Education Seminar. You can co-sponsor an educational program where each of you enter into an agreement that you cover specific costs that are fixed and not dependent upon any referral arrangement.

Historically, the following are willing sponsors with suggested contributions:

1. Other DCs in the MD Referral or Fellowship Programs - $500.00

2. MRI Companies $1000.00

3. Neurosurgeons $1000.00

4. Orthopedic surgeons (non-spine) $1000.00

5. Pain management specialists $1000.00

6. Anaesthesiologists $1000.00

When communicating with potential sponsors, the following is a sample script for a global CME where you invite everyone:

"I am coordinating a formal educational program for primary care and specialty care medical doctors in the area. We will be having 30-75 in attendance and a nationally acclaimed speaker will be presenting and facilitating a state approved course with Category I AMA Credits for the doctors. The program will be on ______ and will be from 6 to 9 PM. I am looking for co-sponsors and the program will be altered to include you. The total cost of the program is $5,000 - $6,000 and I will be responsible for the balance."

When communicating with potential sponsors, the following is a sample script for a CME that is provided DIRECTLY TO SPECIFIC CLININCS where you invite only ONE clinic with all their providers:

"I am coordinating a formal educational program for <INSERT CLINIC NAME HERE>. We will be having 10-12 in attendance and a nationally acclaimed speaker will be presenting and facilitating a state approved course with Category I AMA Credits for the doctors and mid-level providers at <INSERT CLINIC NAME HERE>. The program will be on ______ and will be from 6 to 9 PM. I am looking for co-sponsors and the program will be altered to include you. The total cost of the program is $1500-$3000 and I will be responsible for the balance."

NOTE: Please understand that this program is part of my livelihood and if you choose to sponsor a seminar; I will have subsequently turned away others for your date as the number of requests far outweigh my time to accept all requests. Therefore, there are NO refunds for the number of seminars you book.  For every seminar I book, my staff and I spend a considerable amount of time in securing CME accreditation, speaking with the medical school, customizing the presentation for your area along with rearranging my family’s schedule to ensure I am both available and prepared. Thank you for understanding.
