#1 Program and Office Infrastructure
#2 CHANGING “Perceptions and Attitudes”

A recent survey of 1,000 orthopedic surgeons in the United States and Canada provided a very unique look into their perception of chiropractic. The next series of consultations will be based on the information obtained from this important article and what the MD Relationship Program is going to do about it. This consultation will serve as an introduction to and will get you “up to speed” on the concepts of the MD RelationshipProgram.
During my time building 2 hospital clinics (one in an inner city hospital, the other in a level 1 trauma center and the teaching hospital for University of Buffalo Medical School), co-treating in a neurosurgical office and starting and running a manipulation under anesthesia program, I became very familiar with working with medical doctors of all specialties, as well as the bureaucracy that can surround hospitals, surgical centers and multidisciplinary groups. There are two main categories that are involved in organizational bureaucracy. The first is legal issues; they are what they are and that is why skilled healthcare attorneys are hired. The second has to do with “perceptions and attitudes.” The positive ones are considered an asset, while the negative ones are a liability. The negative ones generally have little to do with reality. The negative “perceptions and attitudes” have been around since the inception of chiropractic, through Wilk v. AMA and whether we like it or not, continue to this day. (Although, they are much better. Just ask a doc that has practiced for 50+ years!)
The main blockade to these “perceptions and attitudes” is that chiropractic has spent decades spending enormous amounts of energy insecurely defending them instead of identifying and correcting these inherent issues. The more that you are around the medical community, work with them, debate with them and socialize with them, the more you come to realize that chiropractic is closer than EVER BEFORE to realizing our true place in the care of our local, county, state and national communities. This program is about using these “perceptions and attitudes” to our advantage. By knowing what they are, we are going to build an infrastructure and marketing system for your office which will put you in a prominent place within your community and help chiropractic to reach 98% of the US population!
Consultation #3 tackles “72.7% agree that chiropractors promote unnecessary treatment plans.” We know that is not true, but that “perception” has created an “attitude.” Stay tuned to learn what the MD RelationshipProgram has in store to change that from a negative to a positive and help you to create relationships in the medical community that will last a lifetime.
